Chhatrashibir Condemns and Demands Justice for the Lawyer’s Murder by Extremist ISKCON Group at Chattogram Court
Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir has expressed deep sorrow, strong condemnation, and protest over the brutal murder of state counsel Saiful Islam Alif by ISKCON extremists at the Chattogram Court premises. The organization has also demanded the immediate prosecution of those involved in the incident.
In a joint statement today, November 26 (Tuesday), Chhatrashibir Central President Manjurul Islam and Secretary General Zahidul Islam said, “Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony, where people of all religions, including Hindus and Muslims, have coexisted peacefully for generations. However, there have long been conspiracies to disrupt this peace and stability. Particularly since the failed attempt to thwart the mass uprising of August 5 and in a bid to undermine the country’s independence and sovereignty, the Hindutva extremist organization ISKCON has been engaging in provocative activities to rehabilitate fascist forces.”
The leaders pointed out that recently, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a spokesperson of ISKCON and leader of the Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, was arrested on charges of anti-national activities. Under the pretext of protesting this arrest, ISKCON extremists brutally murdered state counsel Saiful Islam Alif with sharp weapons at the Chattogram Court premises today. Furthermore, they attacked the mosque within the court compound, severely damaging the country’s long-standing religious coexistence and mutual harmony. “We strongly condemn this heinous murder,” the leaders stated.
They further remarked, “This despicable attack by ISKCON extremists not only claimed the life of an innocent individual but also attempted to destabilize the judiciary, the rule of law, and the religious harmony maintained for centuries. Let us be clear: ISKCON is not a religious organization, nor does it represent the Hindu community. All their activities are part of anti-national and terrorist agendas, with today’s murder being yet another egregious example.”
The leaders demanded, “We call for the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of all terrorists involved in this incident. Furthermore, we urge the authorities to take effective measures to put an end to such anti-national activities.”
They also appealed to the leaders and activists of Chhatrashibir and the general public to refrain from reacting to provocations and to handle the situation with patience and composure.
