Let our lives be directed by the noble ideals of dedication and sacrifice

At this joyous moment of Eid-ul-Adha, we pray to the Almighty that he accepts all our prayers, dedication and sacrifice, forgives all our sins and help us live our lives in accordance with the spirit of sacrifice and Iman. At the same time, we pray that He gives us the peace, prosperity and spirit of sacrifice for human welfare.

Eid not only gives us happiness, but also gives us an occasion to forget our divisions, jealousy and hatred, providing the opportunity to show respect to one another and be united. Eid-ul-Adha enlivens within men the spirit and ideology of sacrifice. It gives us the hope to strive to create a just society free from social, political and economic oppression. The objective of Eid-ul-Adha will be realized only when we will be able to follow Islamic ideals in our lives through learning from this spirit of sacrifice.

Many families who have lost their loved ones due to state sanctioned killings and abductions will not be able to join in celebrations of Eid-ul-Adha this year. The hearts of millions of students and people are heavy in light of the state killings of Shaheed MaulanaMotiur Rahman Nizami, Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, Shaheed Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, Shaheed Abdul QaderMollah, Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali, among numerous others. It is true that the happiness of Eid will not attain completeness in our hearts, but it is also true that followers of the Islamic movement never despair. We believe that the Almighty’s help is near.

On this special day of Eid-ul-Adha, I take care to remember my tortured, imprisoned and maimed brothers whose only crime was to work for the establishment of Allah’s law on His land. For those brothers, I ask Allah to give them patience to bear their difficulties and trials, to grant them well-being and secure their immediate release, and to grant them the Highest reward in the Hereafter. Ameen.

During these happy moments, we understand theconditions of oppressed Muslims from Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Kashmir, China, Russia and other places in the Muslim world, including their oppression, suffering and pain, and specially pray to the Almighty to grant them Paradise in the hereafter. May Allah grant the Muslim Ummah the strength to weather any conspiracy and maintain unity amidst the face of relentless oppression.

At this junction, we need to remember Allah’s words regarding our situation in the Quran,
“It is neither their flesh nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety (Takwa, submitting to Allah) that reaches Him from you. “(Surah Hajj: 37)

“Say, 'Indeed my prayer and my worship, my life and my death are for the sake of Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.” (Surah Al-An’am: 162)
I heartily congratulate my countrymen over the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, and I pray to Allah that He grants us a beautiful environment to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha and take lessons from the occasion in order to apply in our lives. Ameen.
