The election of the Central President and nomination of Secretary General of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir have been completed for the 2020 session. Md. Sirajul Islam has been elected the Central President by members throughout the country via online voting system. Salah Uddin Ayubi has been nominated as the Secretary General for the upcoming session. On the morning of December 30th, the Chhatra Shibir Assistant Election Commissioner and former Shibir President Motiur Rahman Akand announced the name of the newly elected central president in front of the Chhatra Shibir Central executive committee at Shaheed Abdul Malek Auditorium, under the supervision of Chhatra Shibir Assistant Election Commissioner and former Shibir President Nurul Islam Bulbul. Chhatra Shibir Assistant Election Commissioner Motiur Rahman Akand then administered the oath to the newly elected central president. The online voting for the Central President election took place simultaneously across the country from December 28, 10 am to December 29, 9 pm. The results were announced at the end of the vote counting within the stipulated time. As per the constitution of Chhatra Shibir, the central president nominated Salah Uddin Ayubi as Secretary General after consultation with the Central executive council for the 2020 session.
It is notable that the newly elected Central President Sirajul Islam had previously served as Secretary General, Central Office Secretary, Central Literary Secretary, Central Science Secretary, Central Science and Technology Secretary and the President of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) branch of Chhatra Shibir. He graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and completed his Masters Degree from the same department. He is currently doing an MBA at a private university.
The newly nominated Secretary-General, Salah Uddin Ayubi had previously served as the Central Office Secretary, Central Literary Secretary, Central Publication Secretary, Central International Affairs Secretary and President of Gazipur Metropolitan branch and President of Dhaka College. The newly nominated secretary general has attained a bachelor's and master's degree in English literature from Dhaka College. Later, he completed his LLB from Liberty Law College and is currently studying for his LLM degree.
The honorable Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the conference. Speaking as chief guest, Ameer-e-Jamaat said, “We have to fear God with all our heart. We will be with Allah always, and Insha Allah He will be with us as well. The workers of the Islamic Movement need to move forward with the love of Allah in their hearts.” He prayed to Allah for the success of the manpower of all levels, including the newly elected Central President and the newly nominated Secretary General. Also present at the conference were former Central President of Chhatra Shibir and current Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Rafiqul Islam Khan, former Central President of Chhatra Shibir and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North, Selim Uddin, and former Central President of Chhatra Shibir Yasin Arafat and immediate former President Md. Mobarak Hossain, alongside members of the Central Executive committee and presidents of the various branches.
The newly elected Central President has requested the blessings and prayers of people of the country, including leadership, manpower and well-wishers of the organization.
