Shibir deeply mourns death of Afifa Azam, wife of Professor Ghulam Azam
Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir has expressed deep shock at the death of Afifa Azam, wife of the former Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Golam Azam Rahimahullah, one of the top leaders of the world's Islamic Movement.
In a joint message of condolence, Chhatrashibir Central President Mobarak Hossain and Secretary General Mohammad Sirajul Islam said the deceased Afifa Azam passed away at her house at 6 pm on Friday (Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon). Because of their participation in the Islamic movement, the illegal tyrannical government has heaped injustice upon her family in various ways. Initially, her husband, the late professor Ghulam Azam, passed away in prison as a victim of government injustice in the name of war crimes trials, far away from his family and without receiving adequate medical treatment.
Shortly afterward, her beloved son Brigadier (ret.) Aman al-Azmi was abducted by government forces and became a victim of enforced disappearance. He still remains missing. Her other children are being forced to stay abroad due to fear of arrest and torture and can not come to the country. At the end of her life, she took leave as an oppressed personality. All leaders and workers of Shibir are deeply shocked and pained at her death.
The leaders prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and prayed that Allah would grant sabr to the bereaved family and well-wishers.
