We have to take effective measures to prevent the distortion of Bangla language

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Secretary General Mobarak Hossain said that the Bangla language is in danger of the continuing distortion. The introduction of mother tongue in all aspects is still limited to paper today. And the role of the government against foreign language aggression is mysterious to say the least. Therefore, effective steps should be taken to prevent the distortion of the Bangla language.

He said this as the chief guest in a study materials distribution program organised by Dhaka Metropolitan West on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day at an auditorium in the capital. Metropolitan President Abdul Alim presided over the function and the central sports secretary Sarwar Kamal wad the chief guest. Metropolitan secretary Jubair Hossain Rajan and metropolitan leaders were also present at the program.

He said thag language distortion is increasing gradually. This is related to changes in the socioeconomic system, the lack of political foresight, and the lack of a good education system. In addition, the use of distorted language in the movies, dramas and some of the dialogues in broadcasts is one of the reasons for language distortion. The government is silent about this despite the cultural invasion by the TV channels of our neighboring country. Even while speaking at the Parliament, people do not use the correct Bengali pronunciations. In this way, due to the gradual distortion at the different stages of the Bangla language, it is losing its credibility. The government is not taking any effective action in this regard. Although the High Court has given the requisite directions to do so, the govt has failed to comply with it.

The Shibir secretary further said that even after so many years of independence, the mother language is being ignored in all aspects. We have not been able to establish mother tongue with proper dignity even after sacrificing our lives for the language. It has not being possible to introduce Bangla in all the sectors of the state. The Bengali language is still neglected in the highest court and in institutions of higher education in the country. Even though the masses have been repeatedly demanding to implement the mother tongue in all the affairs of the state, every government has been negligent about the issue since independence. Even though the authorities make great show of their love for the language during the month of Ekushey, they failed to spread the consciousness of the great Ekushey in the international arena due to their negligence and ineffectiveness. But it is necessary to change this situation. Social movement must be developed to protect the Bengali language from distortion. To prevent the neglect of mother tongue, Bangla must be launched everywhere. To promote the dignity of our beloved language, we have to make united efforts to preserve the Bangla language.
