Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir has expressed deep grief over the shocking death of 30 people in the sinking of a passenger launch service at Buriganga in the capital

In a joint condolence message, Chhatrashibir Central President Md Sirajul Islam and Secretary General Salahuddin Ayyubi said a launch boat service called Morning Bird sank after colliding with another boat called Mayur-2 at Shyambazar Point in Sadarghat on Monday morning. According to the latest reports, the bodies of 30 people, including women and children, have been recovered and many passengers are still missing. The whole nation is in mourning over this tragic accident. There have been such horrific launch boat accidents before. But the government has not taken any effective action to prevent further accidents. Despite one horrific accident after another in the communication system of the country, the government has always shown indifference on the issue of public security. As a result, the nation continues to witness such heart wrenching accidents again and again. We do not know the language to console the bereaved family members of those killed in the accident. We call on the government to take effective measures to prevent such accidents in the future and to provide adequate compensation to the families of the victims. At the same time, we demand exemplary punishment by bringing everyone involved in the river accident under the purview of legal action. We hope that the shipping authority will take more cautious steps in the terms of shipping travel.

We pray for the forgiveness of the souls of those killed in the launch boat sinking and extend our deepest condolences to their bereaved family members.
